Modern
Apprenticeship Review in Hospitality and Travel
Since
the last Modern Apprenticeship review in Hospitality and Travel
was completed in 2001, over 4200 candidates have started the
training programme. This represents a vast amount of commitment and energy by
those working in the sector, and a substantial financial investment by the
Enterprise Network.
Of
those who have started the programme, 1700 have completed it in its’
entirety, giving the programme a completion level of 37%. As part of the
review, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise
have requested that all Sector Skills Bodies consider how best they can
contribute to an overall improvement in the levels of achievement, and the
framework review has a number of proposals that, subject to employer support,
may be incorporated into a redeveloped framework.
Attached
to this page are a number of documents that you might wish to take a look at.
These documents will better explain the main drivers for the review, and the PowerPoint
presentation is an overview of all that is being proposed. At the bottom of
this page is an on-line questionnaire that we would request you complete
to give us your views on the proposals. If you do not have time to read the
attached documents, please continue to the questionnaire as the outline
proposals are explained.
What is important is that you complete the questionnaire. If there is
insufficient support for the framework, then, simply put, there will not be
one, substantially impacting upon the sort of training and development offered
to those working in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism.
